Health Care Careers Event captured by WCAX and local media |
Sen. Bernie Sanders and a panel of health career students and professionals kicked off the second Health Care Careers Awareness Month – declared by Gov. Jim Douglas – Oct. 12 in Swanton. They spoke to some 400 attentive and enthusiastic middle and high school students at Mississquoi Valley Union High School about health career opportunities in Vermont. The effort is a project of the Health Care Workforce Development Partnership, which is working to fill health care worker shortages throughout the state.
After the presentation, which included video clips from popular medical TV shows, students could try their hand at Plink-It!, an educational interactive game, and talk with panelists. The event was captured by WCAX-TV and the local newspaper and public access channel.
